Discover our range of recyclable packaging
Recycling is the process of converting used materials into new raw materials for reuse. This contributes to reducing waste and saving natural resources. There are several methods of recycling, each with their own specific processes and applications. Europe is strongly committed to recycling; according to the new PPWR, all packaging must be recyclable by 2030. This is a challenge for which Euralpack is fully prepared
Today, mechanical recycling is still seen as the standard method. In this process, materials are first shredded, then washed and finally granulated for reuse. This technique is particularly effective when processing mono materials, as a clean material flow is essential for a high-quality end product.
Within mechanical recycling, we distinguish circular recycling and downcycling. Circular recycling, which is mainly applied to PET, involves reusing the material to make the same product again. This makes PET one of the most sustainable materials currently available on the market. This contrasts with downcycling, where materials are converted into lower-quality products or for long-term applications, such as in the automotive industry. For example, this is done for PP.
However, it is important to note that not all recyclable materials are actually recycled. A good example is foam dishes made of polystyrene (PS). While these are allowed in the PMD bag, they are not currently recycled.
At Euralpack, we are committed to sustainable packaging solutions and consciously choose, wherever possible, materials that can be effectively recycled. This is how we contribute to a circular economy and a more sustainable future.
PET/RPET
By choosing PET, you are 100% sure that your packaging will be recycled. Moreover, at Euralpack, all our PET trays contain at least 70% RPET as standard. But we can also make trays that consist 100% of RPET.
PET is the only material that is currently 100% circularly recycled. Want to know more about this? Feel free to contact us. We will help you with all your questions!
PP
PP cannot currently be recycled for use in the primary food packaging industry. However, it can be used for sustainable applications in the automotive industry and in road infrastructure.
Whether in vacuum bags, lidding films, flowpack films or thermoforming films, euralpack offers a range of both low and high barrier recyclable monomaterials. All conventional options are also available. You can recognise these by the Be-Recycable logo. You can also recognise them by their own name:
