PP

PP or Polypropylene is usable for cold and microwave applications. Depending on the type of PP, from -20°c to 121°c.

Available in transparent and colour.

Properties of PP:

  • Chemical Resistance: PP is resistant to most chemical solvents, bases and acids, making it suitable for containers containing chemicals and solutions.
  • Heat resistance: PP can tolerate higher temperatures than many other plastics, making it suitable for microwave heating. On the other hand, PP can withstand very low temperatures in some cases.
  • Recyclability: PP is fully recyclable, contributing to sustainability initiatives and reducing the carbon footprint of products. Please note! PP cannot be recycled back to the food industry, but it can be used for many other applications.
  • Reusability: Injection moulded PP is suitable for repeated use and is dishwasher-safe.

Applications of PP:

  • Packaging for microwaveable meals: PP is safe for use in the microwave, making it ideal for packaging ready-to-eat meals.
  • Yoghurt and other dairy product jars: PP is widely used for packaging yoghurt, cottage cheese, and other dairy products because it has good sealability, which is essential for shelf life.
  • Suitable for sauces and condiments: PP is resistant to fats and most chemicals, making it suitable for packaging oils, sauces and dressings.
  • Takeaway and fast food: Due to its heat resistance and strength, PP is suitable for packaging hot foods and beverages to be taken away.
